How WhatsApp Onboarding Works
1
Click "Connect WhatsApp Business"

A secure Meta (Facebook) popup opens. Your Facebook login credentials are never shared with us — you authenticate directly with Meta.

2
Grant the Required Permissions

You'll see exactly which permissions are requested: whatsapp_business_management and whatsapp_business_messaging. You can revoke these at any time from your Meta Business settings.

3
Select or Create Your WhatsApp Business Account

Choose your existing WABA or create a new one. Select the phone number you want to use for API messaging. Verify the number by SMS or voice call if prompted.

4
Everything Is Configured Automatically

SignalHub registers your webhook, creates a message template, sends a test message, and generates your API token — all in under 60 seconds.

Before You Start — WhatsApp
Facebook Account

An active Facebook personal account. Meta Business Manager is recommended but not strictly required to begin.

Eligible Phone Number

A number capable of receiving SMS or voice calls. It must not be currently active on the WhatsApp consumer app — you'll need to delete that first.

Business Name & Description

Your business name will appear as the sender display name in WhatsApp. Choose something recognisable to your customers.

Business Verification Recommended

Verifying your Meta Business Manager removes default messaging limits (250/day → unlimited). Required for high-volume sending.

Permissions We'll Request — WhatsApp

During the Meta signup popup, you will see a permission consent screen. Here is exactly what we request and why:

whatsapp_business_management
Manage your WhatsApp Business Account — register your phone number, subscribe to message webhooks, and create/submit message templates for Meta approval
Advanced
whatsapp_business_messaging
Send and receive messages via the WhatsApp Cloud API on behalf of your registered business phone number — required for all inbound and outbound messaging
Advanced
Both permissions are Advanced Access and require Meta App Review. As a verified Meta Business Solution Provider (BSP), SignalHub has already passed this review — you don't need to do anything extra.
What We Do NOT Access
❌ Your personal Facebook profile or friends list
❌ Your Meta Business Manager payment methods or billing
❌ Any WhatsApp accounts or phone numbers you don't explicitly connect
❌ Message content after it's delivered — we store metadata only
You can revoke access at any time from Meta Business Settings → Apps.
Ready to Connect WhatsApp?

Click below to open the secure Meta signup popup. The entire process takes about 2–3 minutes.

2 permissions requested — see the Permissions card above for the full breakdown and why each is needed. You can revoke access at any time from Meta Business Settings → Apps.

Facebook Messenger

Receive and reply to Facebook Page messages from your unified SignalHub inbox

1
Authorize SignalHub to Access Your Facebook Pages

You'll be redirected to Facebook where you select which Pages to connect. You stay in control — disconnect any page at any time.

2
Webhooks Are Registered Automatically

SignalHub subscribes to your Page's messages, messaging_postbacks, and feed events so incoming messages route to your inbox instantly.

3
Start Receiving and Replying

Every Messenger conversation from your Facebook Page(s) appears in the SignalHub inbox. Agents reply without ever logging into Facebook directly.

Permissions We'll Request — Facebook

When you click "Connect via Facebook" you'll be taken to Facebook's authorization screen. Here is exactly what we request and why:

pages_messaging
Send and receive Messenger messages on behalf of your Facebook Pages — the core permission that powers the inbox
Advanced
pages_manage_metadata
Register SignalHub's webhook with your Pages so incoming messages are delivered to us in real time
Standard
pages_show_list
Read the list of Facebook Pages you admin so you can choose which ones to connect — we never auto-connect without your selection
Standard
pages_read_engagement
Read existing conversation threads on your Pages so agents can see the full message history when they reply
Standard
instagram_basic
Read basic Instagram Business account info (username, ID) to detect which IG account is linked to each Facebook Page
Standard
instagram_manage_messages
Send and receive Instagram Direct Messages via your IG Business account — only requested if you have an Instagram account linked to your Page
Advanced
Advanced permissions (pages_messaging, instagram_manage_messages) require Meta App Review. SignalHub has already passed this review as a verified platform — your pages will work immediately.
What We Do NOT Access
❌ Your personal Facebook profile, timeline, or friend list
❌ Ads, ad accounts, or payment methods
❌ Pages you don't manage or didn't explicitly select
❌ Instagram personal accounts (Business/Creator only)
Revoke access any time from Facebook Settings → Business Integrations.
Before You Start — Facebook
Facebook Account with Page Admin Access

You must be an admin of at least one Facebook Business Page. Consumer pages also work.

Facebook Page (Business or Creator)

Your page must have Messenger enabled. Go to Page Settings → Messaging and turn on "People can message your Page."

Your SignalHub API Token

You received this when you completed the WhatsApp onboarding, or your administrator provided it. It links this connection to your account.

Connect Facebook Pages & Instagram

Enter your SignalHub API token below, then authorize SignalHub on Facebook. We'll automatically connect all the pages you manage and detect any linked Instagram Business accounts.

You'll be redirected to Facebook to authorize SignalHub. We only access the permissions listed above. Token not stored locally — it's sent over HTTPS to our server.
Don't have an API token? Complete the WhatsApp onboarding first to receive one. Or contact your SignalHub administrator.

❌ Your personal Facebook profile
❌ Ads or payment methods

Instagram Direct Messages

Receive and reply to Instagram DMs and story mentions from your inbox

1
Link Your Instagram Business Account to a Facebook Page

Instagram DMs are accessed through the Facebook Graph API. Your Instagram Business (or Creator) account must be linked to a Facebook Page you manage.

2
Connect via the Facebook Tab

Instagram authorization is included in the Facebook connection flow. When you connect your Facebook Pages, we automatically detect any linked Instagram accounts and enable DM access.

3
Start Receiving Instagram DMs

All Instagram Direct Messages arrive in your SignalHub inbox alongside WhatsApp and Facebook messages — one unified view.

Permissions We'll Request — Instagram

Instagram is connected through the Facebook authorization flow. These are the Instagram-specific permissions requested and why:

instagram_manage_messages
Read and reply to Instagram Direct Messages and story mentions via the Graph API — without this permission, DMs cannot be received or sent programmatically
Advanced
instagram_basic
Read your Instagram Business account's username, ID, and profile details — used to identify and display your account correctly in SignalHub
Standard
pages_show_list
Discover which Facebook Page your Instagram account is linked to — the Graph API requires this link to route Instagram DMs correctly
Standard
instagram_manage_messages is Advanced Access and requires Meta App Review. SignalHub is an approved platform — this permission is active for all connected accounts.
What We Do NOT Access
❌ Your personal Instagram posts, feed, or followers list
❌ Instagram Stories content (only mentions/replies to your DMs)
❌ Instagram Ads or paid promotion settings
❌ Any Instagram accounts not linked to the Facebook Pages you selected
Revoke access any time from Instagram Settings → Apps and Websites.
Requirements — Instagram
Instagram Business or Creator Account

Personal Instagram accounts cannot use the API. Switch to a Business or Creator account in Instagram settings.

Instagram Must Be Linked to a Facebook Page

In Instagram Settings → Account → Linked Accounts (or from your Facebook Page settings), link your IG Business account to the Facebook Page you manage.

Allow Message Access in Instagram

In Instagram Settings → Privacy → Messages, ensure "Allow others to message you" is enabled.

📘 → 📸
Instagram Connects Through Facebook

You don't need a separate Instagram button. Authorize SignalHub on Facebook, and we automatically detect and enable all linked Instagram Business accounts.

Instagram DMs will appear on this tab once connected.
